One Hell of a Week

Well, I guess I'll start with the update for Week 22!

Your baby now looks like a miniature newborn, checking in at 10.9 inches and almost 1 pound. Her skin will continue to appear wrinkled until she gains enough weight to fill it out, and the fine hair (lanugo) that covers her head and body is now visible. Her lips are becoming more distinct, and the first signs of teeth are appearing as buds beneath her gum line. Her eyes are developed, though the iris (the colored part of the eye) still lacks pigment. Eyelids and eyebrows are in place, and her pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily.

I am doing pretty good, just hungry all the time! The baby is kicking and punching me all the time, especially around my bladder...little snot! I'm going to have J take a picture of what he calls my "budda belly" and post it.

So, this has been a very eventful week, so I will just start at the beginning! Tuesday I had to take the three cats to the vet for their yearly checkup and shots. With Mocha, he had to have bloodwork too because he may have hyperthyroidism like Simba did, so we check his levels every 6 months. Well, I told the vet that Mocha has also been pooping around the house and we thought maybe it was because of all of the changes going on (me pregnant, re-doing the bedroom and bathroom upstairs, etc). The vet wanted to do an x-ray to make sure nothing was blocked inside or wrong with him, and they were going to call me Thursday with the results. Well, Thursday night I got a call from the vet and found out that Mocha's levels were slightly up and he could start medicine for the hyperthyroidism now or we could wait another 6 months. I've decided to wait, the whole thing freaks me out and I re-live everything that happened with Simba. Well, on top of that they found something on the x-ray. Mocha has 3 stones in his bladder, so the vet talked to me about my options. What ended up happening was I took him in the next day for a urinalysis and an ultrasound, to check his urine for crystals and to get a better look at his bladder. I was a mess, because he talked to me about the possibility of surgery. So, I took him in Friday morning and he had his testing done, which came back still showing the 3 stones but luckily there were no crystals in his urine. My vet called the vets at Hills Science Diet (that is the food Mocha eats) and they agreed that the stones could have been there for a long time and there is no reason for surgery right now!!!! YEAY!!!! He does need to start eating a special food for this now though, but it's better than surgery! He came home groggy and mad at me, but he's ok now and has forgiven me. On top of all of this, Friday was the day Simba passed away last year so I was even more messed up because of that. I miss him a lot.

On Wednesday I made an appointment for my car to have an inspection at Honda and also have my air conditioner looked at (again) because it wasn't working. Now, I bought my CRV brand new 4 years ago, and after the first 1 1/2 years the air conditioner broke, they found no leak and had no reason why it happened, they promised me that it wouldn't happen again. Well, here it is 2 1/2 years later and the same thing has happened! So, I asked them to look at it and call me before they did anything to it, I also let it be known how unhappy I was about this happening again. So, they called me and I went down and they told me it would cost $1200!!!!!!!! I thought I was going to fall out of my chair! I felt my face getting red and I just lost it! The guy went to talk to his supervisor and came back and said that they would pay for all of the parts and guarantee them for 1 year if I would pay for the labor, which would be at least 5 hours. My mom and dad were with me, and I asked my dad if it was a good deal and he said yes, unfortunately they don't make cars like they used to. So, I still had to pay $400 for it but that's a lot better than $1200! My sister said, don't mess with a pregnant lady!!! Yeah, especially when I will be very preggo during the summer and will need my air conditioner! So, that is done now. Oh yeah, and while I was there I found out my friend Ray works there! So I got to see him and talk to him for a bit, we've known each other for 15 years now, his wife is expecting their 5th child in November!

J Poo and my dad started ripping apart K's bathroom and the babies room this week, my dad was on vacation this week so they got that done and took everything to the dump. They did a good job, everything will look so different when they are done! I will post pictures of the progression.

J and I went and started our baby registries yesterday! We registered at Target and Toys R' Us. There's more that we want to put on, but I want to talk to the doctor about some things first, which I go this week and see. J also took me out to dinner last night, because today is my birthday! As he would say, it is the 10th anniversary of my 21st birthday!

Well, that's all I can think of right now. Today we are all going for ice cream for my

b-day! :)

21 Weeks

Your baby now weighs about 12 ounces, and you may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. Some babies are restless in the evening, for example, just as you're trying to fall asleep. Others get busy during the day.

I am feeling the baby flutters a lot more lately, which isn't a bad thing. I was starting to get worried because for a few weeks I wasn't feeling much of anything. Everytime I feel the baby moving, I put Josh's hand on my tummy but he still can't feel anything. Oh well, it will happen soon, and when it does it wont feel like cute little flutters anymore!

K's mom finally called last night, while K was at Girl Scouts. She always calls on Tuesdays, and for the last 2 1/2 years K has had Girl Scouts on Tuesdays! DUH! So, it's been over a week since she saw or talked to her mom, so J had K call her back after she got home. They were only on for 15 minutes because her mom was tired and wanted to go to bed...ugh. K has been acting up this last week, and she brought up the other night at bedtime how her mom keeps saying that she never loved J and only married him because she didn't want to be alone raising K. How messed up is that to be telling a 10 year old? Does she think she is helping K? She's not, she's making her more upset and more mad! Now K is starting to wonder how she fits into the picture, and how her mom really feels about her. J tells K that he still loves her mom but in a different way now, and he still cares about her and doesn't hate her, which is true. But, K has to listen to her mom say how much she hates J all the time and what a mistake it was to marry him. So was it a mistake for her to have K too, cause that's what K is hearing!!!

Weekend update

So, this weekend went well. We had a garage sale and did really good! Got rid of a lot of junk, and now have room for the peanut to move in!! My mom came over and helped me Friday with the garage sale, and my neighbor came over off and on through the day too. I didn't even think about how I'd be alone doing a garage sale and having to go to the bathroom every 15 minutes because of the peanut!!! Saturday rained all day and we still did the sale, then went out to dinner at a Greek restaurant and to the mall. Sunday we did the sale for a few hours, then K had soccer pictures and a game, which they won 7-1! Her team is really coming together this year, talking to each other and planning things out, it's so cute. Then we hit a couple of garage sales on the way home. K had her friend spend the night Friday so they sat outside selling lemonade and bracelets that they made. K did it all weekend long and made over $4, she was selling everything for 25 cents each so that's pretty good!

J and K are going to start on the baby's room this week, J doesn't start school again until next week so now is the time to do it. Peanut is really starting to jump around, and my belly is really starting to pop out! Hopefully it won't be long before J and K can feel the baby move.

20 Weeks

Congratulations! You've hit the halfway mark in your pregnancy. By now your baby is about the size of a large sweet potato. Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. She's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom, and about 10 inches from head to heel. (For the first 20 weeks, we use measurements taken from the top of the baby's head to her bottom — known as the "crown to rump" measurement. After that, we use measurements from head to toe. This is because a baby's legs are curled up against her torso during the first half of pregnancy and are very hard to measure.) Your baby is swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system.

Yeay! I am feeling better now, still have days of gagging, but so much better. My belly is getting bigger, had to buy some more preggo clothes but it's ok. K is getting more excited about the baby, she says goodnight and she loves the baby everynight at bedtime, she even pats my belly or kisses it!

This weekend is our town wide garage sale, so we have been getting stuff together to sell. So much junk! I can't wait to get rid of it all. I've also been boxing everything up in my craft room, it will now be the baby's room. J is going to be ripping everything out in the room and K's bathroom and redoing all of it (drywall, new windows, new lighting, new fixtures, etc.). It was a very emotional thing, I know my stuff won't stay boxed up forever but it was hard. J and I also looked at cribs, strollers, high chairs, etc. this weekend. I can't wait to register for things, but I have no idea where to begin! My shower is going to be July 9th, K is with us that month for the summer so that is why we are doing it so early.
